Staying informed through the right sources and being mindful of antibiotic usage can help health care providers and patients be more prepared for future pandemics.

Today's third installment in our American Pharmacist Month special features Dr. Timothy Gauthier, Antimicrobial Stewardship Clinical Manager for Baptist Health South Florida, who discusses his work in the infectious disease space and how the public health community can make it a priority to stay informed on these types of issues, such as misinformation and sources for treatments and diseases.

Timothy P. Gauthier, PharmD, BCPS, BCIDP obtained his Doctor of Pharmacy degree from Northeastern University (Boston, MA) in 2008, then completed two years of post-graduate residency training at Jackson Memorial Hospital (Miami, FL) to specialize in infectious diseases. He has worked in academia at Nova Southeastern University (Fort Lauderdale, FL) and clinical practice at Miami Veterans Affairs Health System (Miami, FL). Since 2019 he has served as the Antimicrobial Stewardship Clinical Program Manager for Baptist Health South Florida.

As a passion project in his personal time since 2016 he has been editor-in-chief of www.IDstewardship.com and www.LearnAntibiotics.com, which he combines with @IDstewardship social media profiles to educate people around the world about bugs and drugs.
