North Carolina Hospital Deploys TouchWorks
Allscripts recently announced that NorthEastMedical Center (Concord, NC) will electronicallyconnect its physicians using the TouchWorks ElectronicHealth Record. Electronic prescribing (e-prescribing)will allow hospital physicians to improvetheir progressive disease management program.
Under an earlier agreement, the hospitallaunched the Allscripts e-Prescribing solution.Immediate results included the ability of physiciansto manage medications for patients acrossthe continuum of care. The new agreement hasadded the functionality of the TouchWorks ElectronicHealth Record. Now, physicians will havethe capability to communicate the entire patientrecord, where appropriate, to all stakeholders inthe health care delivery process.
"Absolute commitment to service and clinicalexcellence is our mission at NorthEast MedicalCenter," said Keith McNeice, vice president andchief information officer of the hospital."We havea significant number of patients that movethroughout our provider network, and we believethe best way to facilitate our mission at the pointof care [is] to adopt an electronic health record.With TouchWorks, physicians will have instantaccess to their patient records at any of our 33clinic facilities, as well as from the hospital, emergencycenter, or their home."
