Program Targets Older Americans

The National Diabetes Education Program(NDEP) has launched a campaigntargeting diabetes among the elderly. Thecore of the program "Small Steps, BigRewards"focuses on simple lifestylechanges such as diet and exercise tohelp reduce the risk of serious diabetescomplications including heart disease,stroke, kidney failure, and amputations,noted James Gavin, III, MD, PhD, chairmanof the NDEP.
