System Offers Clinical Component
Laboratory Corporation of America Holdings (LabCorp) has entered into an exclusive service relationship with Medicity Inc to offer on-demand lab test ordering and results as part of Medicity's hospital portal product. As a provider of Web-and Web-service-based secure clinical applications for hospitals and provider organizations, Medicity's clinical application suite includes a master patient index, an interface manager, ambulatory ordering, and inpatient ordering.
The agreement will enable hospital personnel and physicians to order lab tests and retrieve clinical information directly from LabCorp through a secure portal created to work with a hospital's existing information systems. The system is designed to help improve hospital workflow, with such features as digital signatures, document management, and clinical messaging. The hospital portal will allow physicians, nurses, and technicians to make critical decisions regarding patient care with the most current clinical information readily available.
