Will UV Nail Lamps Increase Skin Cancer Risk?

Ultraviolet (UV) exposure from nail salon lamps could slightly increase skin cancer risk, states a research letter published online on April 30, 2014, in JAMA Dermatology. Patients can minimize their exposure risk by coating their hands with sunscreen, wearing UV-protective gloves with the fingers cut off, or skipping treatments requiring nail lamps.
