Will the CVS Health, IBM Partnership Disrupt Community Pharmacy?

Will the new partnership between CVS Health and IBM bring about real disruption in community pharmacy?

I have long felt that if we are going to see real disruptive changes in health care, technology will play a major role.

Last week, CVS Health and IBM announced they will use predictive analytics and Watson cognitive computing for care management services for patients with chronic disease.

Will this new partnership bring about real disruption in community pharmacy? I think it may better position community pharmacy to really be the center of neighborhood health care.

Add point-of-care testing to patient-specific analytic tools, and chronic disease management may enter a new era with pharmacists at the center of it. We can only hope!
