Pharmacy Services Provider Acquires Clinical Technologies Company

STRAND and OmniSYS share a passion for leveraging the pharmacy setting to improve patient outcomes, according to a company executive.

OmniSYS, a technology company focused on solutions for the retail pharmacy industry, has announced its acquisition of STRAND Clinical Technologies.

STRAND helps retail pharmacists launch and support clinical services within their community. The company's intervention, documentation and education platform is designed to support pharmacies in providing preventative care services and engaging patients with chronic diseases, according to OmniSYS.

STRAND was founded in 2009 with the goal of transforming the community pharmacy marketplace by inspiring and empowering pharmacists to advance their clinical pharmacy practice. Their portfolio includes solutions for clinical documentation, education and training, patient engagement, opioid risk assessment and in-store advertising.

“Recognizing the tremendous potential of community pharmacists as clinical service providers, we built a platform that empowers pharmacies to expand and grow their business,” said David Pope, PharmD, CDE, STRAND co-founder and chief innovation officer, in a prepared statement. “OmniSYS not only shares this vision, but has the market presence and resources available to ensure that our vision becomes reality.”

According to the OmniSYS, STRAND aims to help pharmacists grow their business by enabling pharmacies to become health hubs for their communities through services that include clinical billing, education, and creating and sending pharmacist eCare plans.

“The pharmacy’s role in care delivery continues to expand. With a growing population of people with age-related and chronic health conditions combined with the desire for convenient and accessible care, community pharmacists are uniquely positioned to provide preventative care and low-acuity services traditionally performed in a doctor’s office,” said John King, OmniSYS chief executive officer, in a prepared statement.

STRAND and OmniSYS share a passion for leveraging the pharmacy setting to improve patient outcomes, according to King. STRAND’s state-of-the-art technology is designed to support clinical workflow in the pharmacy now and in the future, he added.
