OTC Pearl of the Day: Gaviscon
Indication: Gaviscon is used for heartburn, sour stomach, acid indigestion, and upset stomach.

- Gaviscon comes in chewable and liquid forms.
- The active ingredient in Gaviscon includes aluminum hydroxide 160 mg and magnesium carbonate 105 mg.
- Gaviscon comes in various dosage forms, such as regular and extra strength.
- Gaviscon comes in various flavors such as fruit flavor, orange burst, butterscotch, and peppermint flavors.
- It is recommended to swallow the whole tablet and for the liquid to shake well, before taking the dose.
- Not recommended to exceed the maximum recommended dose, unless consulted with a physician.
- Gaviscon may cause gas, constipation, and burping as adverse effects.
