Nationwide Retailers Supporting Heart Health Through American Heart Association Point-of-Purchase Fundraising Campaign

Dallas, July 11, 2016 In support of the American Heart Association’s mission to build healthier lives, free of cardiovascular diseases and stroke, several nationwide retailers are activating their support for the AHA’s Life Is Why We Give™ fundraising campaign in July and August with point-of-purchase donation opportunities.

Sprint will conduct the Life is Why We Give™ campaign at 1,000 Sprint stores across the U.S. The campaign began July 8 and will continue for several months, followed by other forms of campaign communication with its customers.

“We are excited to be a part of this fundraising campaign with the American Heart Association,” said Debby Ballard, Director of Sprint Community Affairs. “Our customers will become heroes in our store and in their communities by donating to support heart disease and stroke research, health and education programs.”

Menchies will also give its customers the chance to donate in 450 stores in August.

Their support, along with the support of many other local and regional retailers, helps showcase the many ways the American Heart Association works to save lives all across America: breakthrough research, life-saving technology and the creation of healthier communities.

“The American Heart Association wants everyone to be able to experience more of life’s precious moments,” said Tanya Edwards, Executive Vice President of Community Development and Health for the American Heart Association. “By teaming with Sprint and other retailers from around the country, we can help build a world free of heart disease and stroke and encourage families to live longer, healthier lives.”

The Life Is Why We Give™ fundraising campaign also enhances awareness of the ongoing fight against heart diseases and stroke literally at the point of consumer purchase. It is an extension of the American Heart Association’s Life is Why™ brand aspiration, connecting with consumers on an emotional level, giving them valuable resources and inspiring them to take action in their own lives.

Donations may be made directly at participating retailer locations or directly to the AHA by visiting www.lifeiswhy.org/donate. Donations will help benefit research, public education and community health initiatives of the American Heart Association and American Stroke Association.
