NACDS Total Store Expo to Feature FDA Presentation on New Supply Chain Law

PRESS RELEASE

July 8, 2014, Arlington, Va. — A unique opportunity to learn directly from the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) about the implications of the Drug Supply Chain Security Act of 2014 awaits the attendees of the National Association of Chain Drug Stores (NACDS) Total Store Expo next month. Dr. Ilisa B.G. Bernstein, deputy director of the Office of Compliance with the FDA Center for Drug Evaluation and Research, will conduct a presentation on the implementation of the law during the four-day trade show and strategic exchange in Boston, Massachusetts.

Dr. Bernstein will speak on Sunday, August 24 at 10:00 a.m. during the Insight Session “Drug Supply Chain Security Act: Overview and Implementation.” As 2015 approaches in just a few short months, manufacturers, distributors and supply chain partners are preparing for new phases of implementation of the law. Dr. Bernstein’s Insight Session will provide clarity to the many deadlines, definitions and intricacies associated with the implementation process of the new law for pharmacies, manufacturers, distributors and supply chain partners.

“Dr. Bernstein’s presentation at the NACDS Total Store Expo is not only timely, but also demonstrates the depth and breadth of what this trade show provides for NACDS members and the industry,” said NACDS President and CEO Steven C. Anderson, IOM, CAE. “NACDS has made it a top priority to continue to advocate and to present education opportunities related to the new supply chain law’s implementation. The NACDS Total Store Expo presents an ideal opportunity to help deliver on that objective.”

Each NACDS Total Store Expo Insight Session is carefully crafted to ensure that attendees are receiving helpful information to conduct business on a day-to-day basis on a variety of issues and priorities including healthcare, business and logistics. In fact, many of the sessions — including Dr. Bernstein’s session - may provide crossover into other segments of the industry where both retailers and suppliers benefit from the presentation. To date, 18 Insight Sessions are scheduled during the trade show.

The NACDS Total Store Expo will take place August 23-26 at the Boston Convention & Exhibition Center.
