PRESS RELEASE

Arlington, VA. - Citing its wide range of commuter benefits to employees, NACDS was named one of the nation’s “Best Workplaces for Commuters” by the National Center for Transit Research (NCTR) of the University of South Florida and the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency. This distinction only was awarded to nearly 2,000 workplaces nationwide that recognize the value of providing innovative benefits that aid employees and society alike.

In recognizing NACDS with this distinction, NCTR stated that NACDS “truly demonstrates your leadership and commitment to improving the quality of life for your employees while reducing traffic congestion, promoting energy conservation and reducing related air pollution in your community. Out of the millions of employers in the United States, you are in the top 1 percent known as the Best Workplaces for Commuters.”

As a result of this recognition, The Arlington Transportation Partners, a division of the Arlington (VA) County Commuter Services, named NACDS as a Platinum Level Champion for its “commitment to active and sustainable transportation initiatives, by encouraging their employees to use various modes of transit.”

NACDS is one of only 34 employers in Arlington County, Virginia to reach the Platinum Level recognition.

NACDS places a high value on helping employees realize efficiencies in their daily commutes. The Association offers a subsidized transit benefit, including SmarTrip cards, to help offset the cost of commuting in the Washington, DC metro area. NACDS also provides parking for employees who drive or carpool to work, and bike parking is available as well.

"It's an honor to be recognized by NCTR, EPA and The Arlington Transportation Partners as a top workplace that provides a variety of transportation options for our employees,” said NACDS President and CEO Steven C. Anderson, IOM, CAE.

"Located in a thriving area of Arlington - just across the Potomac River from the nation’s capital - we understand the potential challenges of commuting in an urban community on a daily basis. Last month, the Texas A&M Transportation Institute and the data company INRIX named Washington, D.C. as the worst city in the country for traffic congestion. We want to help ensure that NACDS employees make the most of their time and resources in coming to work every day. Whether taking the bus, subway, biking, walking or carpooling, employees deserve options for their transportation that help make their daily commutes more efficient and affordable. NACDS commuter initiatives make our staff team more productive and effective as we continue to provide stellar services to our member companies,” said Anderson.
