NACDS Announces Jason Ausili as Director, Pharmacy Affairs

The National Association of Chain Drug Stores today announced the appointment of Jason Ausili as director, pharmacy affairs, effective September 28.

Arlington, VA. - The National Association of Chain Drug Stores (NACDS) today announced the appointment of Jason Ausili as director, pharmacy affairs, effective September 28. Ausili will report to Kathleen Jaeger, senior vice president, pharmacy care and patient advocacy.

Among his responsibilities, Ausili will drive NACDS’ initiatives designed to optimize pharmacy care. He will also assist with emerging care models that advance member interests by actively engaging on value-based and performance initiatives to improve patient clinical outcomes. Ausili will the lead the building and leveraging of relationships with schools and colleges of pharmacy, creating cutting edge education programs and ensuring that future education accreditation standards best align with tomorrow’s neighborhood care services.

Ausili also will assist the NACDS Foundation by advancing the Faculty Scholars Program — which trains associate professors in effective methods of community-based patient care research.

Anderson, IOM, CAE. “Jason brings a wealth of theoretical and applied knowledge to the advancement of neighborhood care. He is well grounded in practical pharmacy operations and innovative clinical experience. Together, these skills will allow him to provide effective leadership on issues such as quality metrics and innovative value-based payment models. He has practical know-how in building point-of-care services and making them work efficiently and effectively, and that will serve our members well as the healthcare delivery system continues to transform.”

A pharmacist, Ausili most recently served as health quality leader at Target Corp., where he developed and executed healthcare quality strategy for over 1,660 pharmacy locations, focusing on improving health outcomes for patients and decreasing the overall cost of healthcare. During his 11 years of service with the company, he previously held the positions of healthcare operations manager, business process consultant and pharmacy manager.

Before joining Target Corp., Ausili served as a staff pharmacist for Kroger Co. in Indianapolis, IN. Ausili received his doctor of pharmacy degree from Butler University and conducted pre-pharmacy studies at Illinois Central College. Ausili has served on several pharmacy work groups with NACDS and is a Stakeholder Advisory Panel member of the Pharmacy Quality Alliance, among numerous other professional affiliations.
