Compared to: Aldara (Medicis Pharmaceutical Corp) Indication: The FDA approved Imiquimod Cream 5%, the generic equivalent to Medicis Pharmaceutical Corp’s Aldara. Imiquimod Cream 5% is indicated for the topical treatment of clinically typical, nonhyperkeratotic, nonhypertrophic actinic keratoses on the face or scalp in immunocompetent adults, and for the treatment of external genital and perianal warts/condyloma acuminate in patients 12 years and older.

Dosage Form: Cream: single-use packets each of which contains 250 mg of cream, equivalent to 12.5 mg of imiquimod

Indication: Teva announced the launch of Escitalopram Tablets USP, their generic version of Forest Laboratories’ Lexapro tablets. As the first company to file an abbreviated new drug application, Teva was granted 180-day exclusivity for this product. Escitalopram Tablets USP are indicated for the acute and maintenance treatment of major depressive disorder in adults and for the acute treatment of generalized anxiety disorder in adults.

ZIprasIdone HydrochlorIde Capsules

Indication: Dr. Reddy’s Laboratories announced the launch of Ziprasidone Hydrochloride Capsules, a bioequivalent generic version of Pfizer Inc’s Geodon. Ziprasidone Hydrochloride Capsules are indicated for the treatment of schizophrenia, acute treatment as monotherapy of manic or mixed episodes associated with bipolar 1 disorder, and as an adjunct to lithium or valproate for the maintenance treatment of bipolar 1 disorder. All dosages should be taken with food and are available in 60-count bottles.

The company plans to launch the product in May 2012.
