PRESS RELEASE

The Hague, Natherland, 24 September 2015 -- Pharmacists everywhere are preparing to celebrate World Pharmacists Day tomorrow. The International Pharmaceutical Federation (FIP) has heard about a variety of events being prepared by its member organisations. Belgium, for example, has organised a multidisciplinary symposium on therapeutic adherence. In the Philippines, poster and video-making contests as well as fitness activities such as Zumba dance will be held. FIP’s member organisation in India will launch a national competition in which pharmacists are asked to share how their knowledge has helped improve the health of their patients. Member organisations in other countries will be marking World Pharmacists Day with rallies and lectures.

This year’s theme is “Pharmacists: your partners in health".

"Partnership is essential to the responsible use of medicine. Every day we act as partners to patients, other health care professionals, scientists, as well as policymakers, with the shared vision of better health. World Pharmacists day is an opportunity to promote the valuable role we play in bringing about great health for all,” says FIP President Dr Carmen Peña.

FIP will be compiling a 2015 World Pharmacists Day album and is inviting fellow pharmacists to send in images of their activities so that they can be shared with colleagues around the world. A selection of the pictures will be showcased at the FIP world congress next week in Düsseldorf. Pictures and captions can be sent to

. FIP has also created a Twibbon extension through which people can personalize the World Pharmacists Day logo with their picture and share it through social media.
