OTC/Lifestyle Pearl of the Day: Tukol

Indication: Tukol is a combination produce to be used as cough suppressant, expectorant, and nasal decongestion.

Insight:

  • Ingredients: Dextromethorphan, guaifenesin, and phenylephrine.
  • Indication: Tukol helps loosen phlegm (mucus) and thin bronchial secretions to drain bronchial tubes. It temporarily relieves symptoms occurring with a cold, such as nasal congestion and cough due to minor throat and bronchial irritation.
  • Do not use: If taking a prescription monoamine oxidase inhibitor (MAOI); certain drugs for depression, psychiatric, or emotional conditions, or Parkinson's disease; or for 2 weeks after stopping the MAOI. If you do not know whether your prescription drug contains an MAOI, ask a doctor or pharmacist before taking this product.
  • Directions: 2 teaspoons every 4 hours, do not take more than 6 doses in any 24-hour period.
