Can You Read These Rxs?

Rx 1

Sam Brian, Jr, RPh, could not make heads or tails of this messy script, which arrived in a stack of equally illegible prescriptions at Court House Pharmacy in Winnfield, Louisiana. A call to the physician’s office cleared things up for Sam.

Do you know what the prescription says?

The writing on this prescription slip looked more like hieroglyphics than handwriting to Nick Simone, RPh, of Bonus Drug & Surgical in Astoria, New York. He was unable to fill the prescription until he spoke with the physician directly.

Can you read it?

ANSWERS

Rx 1: Flexeril Tab 5 mg—#100, take 1 every 6 hours as needed for muscle spasms, no refill. Neurontin 400 mg—#100, take 1 by mouth 3 times daily for pain, no refill.

Rx 2: Promethazine with codeine—#120 mL, take 1 teaspoonful 4 times daily.
