Fran Byrnes, Director of ASHP’s Conference and Convention Division, received the organization’s 2014 CEO Award for Staff Excellence today at the opening session of the 49th ASHP Midyear Clinical Meeting in Anaheim, Cal.

The CEO Award for Staff Excellence acknowledges staff members who perform their job duties with distinction. In addition, recipients must have demonstrated exceptional initiative in contributing to ASHP and upholding its staff values of serving members and embodying a spirit of teamwork, respect, and excellence.

Ms. Byrnes, who has been on the ASHP staff for 14 years, is being honored for her sustained contributions to advancing the organization’s mission and work through her leadership in planning and executing ASHP’s meetings and events. During the Midyear Clinical Meeting, for example, Ms. Byrnes leads over 220 ASHP staffers, contractors, and vendors to ensure that the meeting—the world’s largest annual pharmacy gathering—is seamless.

“With 100 percent dedication, Fran provides consistent and exemplary customer service to each event—big or small,” said ASHP CEO Paul A. Abramowitz, Pharm.D., Sc.D. (Hon.), FASHP. “Fran always goes above and beyond the call of duty, and embodies true leadership through integrity, resilience, and humility. Her commitment to our members and customers as well as to ASHP’s overall success is outstanding.”

Ms. Byrnes’ career at ASHP began almost 14 years ago, when she started as an Event Manager in the Meeting Administration Division. A graduate of Vanderbilt University, Nashville, Ms. Byrnes began her career in the meetings industry with Hyatt Hotels, progressing through various positions providing sales and meeting support. In early 1999, she joined the National Association of Chain Drug Stores as a meetings manager and joined ASHP in the fall of 2000. While at ASHP, she has served in the roles of Senior Manager, Conference Logistics, and Assistant Director, Conference Logistics, before being promoted to her current position in 2011.
