Acid Reflux Condition Center Debuts
This month, we introduce a new condition center on
Treatments available to treat acid reflux range from antacids to H2-receptor antagonists and proton pump inhibitors (PPIs). Given that all of these medications are available OTC, pharmacists play an important role in guiding patients to appropriate medication therapy as well as addressing patients’ concerns about potential side effects and drug interactions.
Some of the topics that will be covered in the acid reflux condition center include:
- Extraesophageal manifestation of acid reflux
- Acid reflux as a cause of nocturnal awakenings
- Counseling as a means of preventing PPI overuse
