Can You Read These Rxs?
The pharmacy staff of Riverside Hometown Pharmacy in Riverside, New Jersey, could only make out parts of this prescription. Always up for a challenge, the pharmacy staff tried to determine the medicine being ordered. Because the patient was waiting for the medication, the pharmacy decided it should call the physician?s office for a quick answer. With your expertise, what do you think is being prescribed?
Registered Pharmacist Kerry L. Wilson, of The Medicine Shoppe? in Hiawassee, Georgia, was not sure about this prescription. Wilson conferred with the patient to see if she could shed light on it. The patient also was confused. The pharmacist called the physician's office and the nurse was able to verify this Rx. Is this prescription clear to you?
ANSWERS
Rx 1: Diabeta .005 g, #180, 1 tablet 2 times a day, 5 refills.
Rx 2: Lisinopril 20 mg, #20, ? tablet by mouth 2 times a day; clonidine 0.1 mg, #40, 1 tablet twice a day, refills as needed.
