Medical Group Implements EHRs

Jefferson University Physicians (JUP),part of Thomas Jefferson University,will implement Allscripts' TouchWorksElectronic Health Record (EHR) for 480physicians and 700 residents. WithTouchWorks EHR, JUP physicians willhave immediate access to clinicalrecords from any of the group's 75practice locations, the hospital, orremotely. It will provide a seamlessconnection to other administrative andclinical systems used by Jefferson.

After a 2-year evaluation of EHR vendors,JUP selected Allscripts for itsindustry leadership and its track recordof successful EHR implementations atacademic medical centers across thecountry. Allscripts will also providestandardized interoperability with thephysicians group's existing IDXFlowcast practice management system,and Thomas Jefferson UniversityHospital's acute care clinical informationsystem. Allscripts' EHR solutionwill give JUP physicians the ability toautomate many of their daily responsibilitiessuch as prescribing medications,ordering laboratory tests, andviewing test results.
