Smith & Nephew Inc (Largo, Fla)recently announced that US marketingrights for Iodosorb and Iodoflex brandswill transfer from HealthPoint to Smith& Nephew Wound Management. Withthe exception of the United States,Smith & Nephew currently owns andmarkets Iodosorb and Iodoflexthroughout the world. For the past 10years, HealthPoint has had exclusivemarketing rights in the United States.Therefore, with this transfer, Smith &Nephew will consolidate exclusiverights to market these brands worldwide.The products are indicated foruse in cleaning wet ulcers and woundssuch as venous stasis ulcers, pressuresores, and infected wounds. Iodosorbassists in wound area protection and inreducing the microbial load in thewound environment. Its unique technologyalso accounts for its capacity todeslough and absorb exudate from wetwounds and ulcers. Package sizes forboth products will remain the same,with changes only to the package appearanceto reflect Smith & Nephewcorporate branding and the new productcodes.
