California Moves Toward Personal Health Records
The demand for personal healthrecords continues to rise. Therefore, theCalifornia Association of Physician Groups(CAPG) is taking steps to deliver interactivepersonal health records to Californiaresidents from their own physicians, aspart of the iHealthRecords service.
"Several of our CAPG members havealready begun rolling out iHealth to theirpatients, and it is clear that this servicewill help support our organization's goalof improving health care for Californians,"said Donald Crane, president andchief executive officer of CAPG.
The California Regional HealthInformation Organization (CalRHIO)applauded the efforts. "The CAPGannouncement regarding iHealth isanother important step in bringing astandards-based personal health recordto all of California,"said Molly Coye, MD,chairman of the organization.
CalRHIO is a statewide effort to supportthe use of information technologyand the creation of a secure health informationdata exchange system thatimprove the safety, quality, and efficiencyof health care for individuals throughoutthe state.
