Antsy patients, angry OTC customers, and more pharmacy pet peeves.

Antsy Patient: When there is just 1 cashier and a line of 3 people, but the customer walks directly to the window with no cashier to cut the line and then says, "When are you going to help me?"

Angry OTC Customer: In the drive-through line, 1 woman asks the pharmacist to go out onto the floor and get her "incontinence" pads. Of course, he brings the wrong item, which infuriates the customer, who then comes into the pharmacy, throws down the pads on the counter, and proceeds to call the pharmacist an idiot.

Persnickety Pick-Up: When a patient comes to pick up a prescription and tells you exactly what the medication is for and where it is located in the pharmacy.

Unnecessary Queries: When customers ask to speak to a pharmacist and then ask less relevant questions. One day a lady asked, "How do you spell omeprazole?" but she demanded to speak to the pharmacist instead of a tech.

Bossy patients, abandoned prescriptions, drive-through demands? We want to know! Send your pet peeves to cmollison@pharmacytimes.com. We'll share them here and online.
