Pharmacy Times spoke with Angela Kashuba, Dean of UNC Eshelman School of Pharmacy and Patrick Brown, UNC Eshelman School of Pharmacy Alumni, about the importance of preparing pharmacists and students to vaccinate the general public with the COVID-19 vaccine.

According to Kashuba, there needs to be a broad vaccination strategy, especially for this pandemic. "This initiative is just huge, and it really is all hands on deck," she added.

Further, Brown added that there are 60,000 pharmacies across the United States who are preparing for this vaccine, which is a huge deal in the country. "There is a lot of misinformation about vaccines right now and hesitancy about vaccines right now, and I expect pharmacies to be up to the challenge to not only providing a vaccine but educating their communities about the vaccine," he added.

Kashuba and Brown also discuss advice for those struggling with mental and physical health hardships during the pandemic and their definition of the value of the pharmacist.
