Today, we’re celebrating Cynthia Elliott, RPh, director of pharmacy at Jackson Purchase Medical Center in Mayfield, Kentucky. The hospital has been dealing with a local outbreak of the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) in a local nursing home, and Elliott has been working hard to ensure the staff there have all necessary protective equipment and are up-to-date with their treatment plan.

Elliott is also a certified diabetes educator, and she has still been helping her patients via phone and text while they are unable to attend in-person appointments.

Elliott was nominated by her daughter, Alexis Dale, PharmD, who said her mother was particularly important as she attended pharmacy school.

“As I navigated my own way to earning my PharmD, she has always been my mentor and role model,” Dale said in a message to Pharmacy Times. “The only thing that outshines her pharmacy knowledge is her willingness and desire to go above and beyond for her patients and community.”

Pharmacy Times® wants to celebrate the amazing pharmacy staff members who are on the front lines every day. Nominate someone in your pharmacy by emailing AAntrim@pharmacytimes.com with their name, position, and why they’re a hero!
