Networking: Take the Asembia Specialty Pharmacy Summit to the Next Level

Article

Numerous opportunities for networking exist at the annual Asembia Specialty Pharmacy Summit.

Whether it is online or in person, networking is increasingly important, especially in the health care world. At conferences, such as the Asembia Specialty Pharmacy Summit 2017, there are numerous opportunities to connect and build interpersonal relationships with various stakeholders. These opportunities should be taken advantage of by all who attend.

Last year, nearly 5000 health care stakeholders were in attendance, which is expected to grow to approximately 6000 attendees this year.

This year at Asembia, there are 3 main networking events offered:

Grand Opening Reception: April 30, from 5:30 pm to 7 pm at the Encore Ballroom

Specialty Pharmacy Social: May 1, from 9 pm to 11:30 pm at Intrigue Nightclub

Asembia Party: May 2, from 9 pm to 11:30 pm at Encore Beach Club

Each event has a unique location and purpose, which provides an ever-changing host of topics for participants to discuss. These events allow pharmacists and specialty pharmacy stakeholders to interact and build relationships that may not have occurred otherwise.

While there are 3 hosted events, these are not all of the opportunities available to conference attendees. Attendees should make the most out of day-to-day activities that could lead to long-lasting professional relationships, which may enrich business and the conference experience overall.

Attendees should also take advantage of times set aside for meals as a networking approach. Since there are no sessions being held during this time, many individuals will be available to talk.

Take the opportunity to sit at a table of people you do not know to connect and discuss popular topics, such as new drug approvals or best practices. The vast number of different stakeholders attending will be sure to elicit unique responses and provide a new perspective on a topic that may seem straight forward.

Additionally, Gilead is sponsoring the Sunrise 5K Run/Walk on May 2 from 6 am to 7 am. Both runners and walkers are invited to participate in the event, which will take place on the Las Vegas strip.

Even if others from your company are not interested in the event, it may present an opportunity to get to know a fellow attendee who is running beside you who you may not have met during the course of the conference.

The 5K will also provide attendees with an interesting conversation piece to bring up at the Asembia Party held later that night.

These opportunities provide a chance for stakeholders to meet and create a relationship that could benefit your business.

“The key to being successful is being an extrovert,” Dan Steiber RPh, editor in chief, executive vice president, Specialty Pharmacy Times® said.

Taking a few minutes per day to strike up a conversation with the person next to you during sessions, at lunch, or during a networking event, will add value to the Asembia Specialty Pharmacy Summit experience.
