Pharmacy Times spoke with Jenny Bingham, PharmD, BCACP, CMWA Director of Ambulatory Care Residency Programs & Research at Tabula Rasa Healthcare, about the present state and future of pharmacy residency programs.

With the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, Bingham has seen the programs change within their preceptors and their programs. Some of the benefits that she highlights are her residents, as one of their primary care sites is an AmbCare clinic, who were able to pivot easily for physicians and nurses who had to adapt to the new normal. However, one of the challenges Bingham saw was teaching their students remotely without the normal face-to-face teaching method.

Bingham also discussed advancing the role of telehealth for pharmacists, how ambulatory care has changed in recent years, and what she hopes for the future of pharmacy residency programs.
