The Need for More Women in Leadership Positions in Pharmacy

Suzanne Soliman, PharmD, BCMAS, Founder and President of Pharmacist Moms, explains why there is a still a need for women to hold positions of leadership in pharmacy, despite the strides in recent years.

Suzanne Soliman, PharmD, BCMAS, Founder and President of Pharmacist Moms: Despite women graduating as the majority for the past 40 years, there are still women who are not in leadership positions, so the majority of leadership positions are held by men. Even if you look at the colleges of pharmacy, there were about 80 some colleges of pharmacy back in the year 2000; 20 years later, they are about double. The amount of female deans is still 25%. It was 25% back in the year 2000, despite doubling the amount of schools there's still only 25% of female deans which I find concerning.
