Ken Perez, MBA, vice president of healthcare policy and government affairs at Omnicell, discussed the changes that would take place if pharmacists were granted provider status for Medicare Part B.

Pharmacy Times interviewed Ken Perez, MBA, vice president of healthcare policy and government affairs at Omnicell, on the House and Senate bills, HR2759 and S1362 respectively, intended to grant pharmacists provider status for Medicare Part B.

In this discussion, Perez describes how the role of a pharmacist would change if this legislation passes. He emphasizes that much of what would be expected of pharmacists are services they already provide, and that this legislation would incentivize them to practice at the top of their license.
