In part 1 of the Pharmacy Times® Pharmacy Face-Off Gameshow, students from the University of the Sciences Philadelphia College of Pharmacy and the Rutgers University Ernest Mario School of Pharmacy went head-to-head to answer questions about the pharmacy field, different medications, and fun facts.

Students participating from the Ernest Mario School of Pharmacy included Emily Abdelmessih, Nandini Patel, Cara Trulli, and Kelly Reitmeyer. David Dill, Cynthia Ly, Alex Greene, and Karen Namubiru competed from the Philadelphia College of Pharmacy. The gameshow was hosted by Maurice Shaw, PharmD, also known as the Sassy Pharmacist.

In the first round, 1 student from each school stepped up to the podium and were asked a question. They then raced to hit the buzzer, and whichever student buzzed first was allowed to respond. A correct answer earned 10 points, whereas an incorrect answer deducted 5 points from the team’s total. If the answering student got the answer wrong, the opposing team could also collaborate to come up with the correct one.

Questions in the first round included the indications for pembrolizumab, symptoms of atrial fibrillation, and the average age of menopause for women in the United States.

Part 2 of the 3-part gameshow, a lightning round, will be released Friday, April 1st. Stay tuned to find out which school will win!
