Pharmacy Hero: Pharmacist Protects Staff By Ensuring PPE, Providing Isolated Work Station During COVID-19 Pandemic

Today we’re thanking Ashley London, PharmD, for her amazing work at Barney’s Pharmacy in Augusta, Georgia. London was nominated by her colleague, Haylee Gamblin, PharmD, who said London has gone above and beyond to protect her during her pregnancy.

Gamblin said London has ensured that she has personal protective equipment, provided an isolated workstation away from patients, and adjusted the schedule to ensure Gamblin will not be necessary on the frontlines during the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic.

“Not only that, but she has provided incredible emotional and morale support for me and the whole team during such an unprecedented time,” Gamblin added in a message to Pharmacy Times^®.

Additionally, Gamblin said London has worked tirelessly to protect patients and other staff members. Gamblin has worked to implement home delivery and curbside pick-up for all of their 1000-plus daily prescriptions and has made sure each employee feels comfortable coming to work during the pandemic.

“Everyday, she and our team are taking steps to continue providing top-notch care while also ensuring the pharmacy is safe for employees and patients,” Gamblin concluded.
