Managed Care & Specialty Pharmacy Training Summit to Examine the Redefined Managed Care Spectrum in Light of Affordable Care Act

Article

Xcenda and US Bioservices are scheduled to host a summit focusing on the increasingly complex relationships between payers, manufacturers, and specialty pharmacies.

Xcenda, a full-service consultancy and leading managed markets agency, and US Bioservices, a URAC accredited specialty pharmacy provider, both business units of AmerisourceBergen Specialty Group, today announced they are hosting a joint Managed Care & Specialty Pharmacy Training Summit from February 26-28, 2013, in Frisco, Texas. This unique seminar is designed to give life science professionals an in-depth view of the increasingly complex relationships between payers, manufacturers, and specialty pharmacies, and the resulting redefined managed care spectrum.

Attendees will learn about the flow of specialty products through the pharmacy benefit and how they are distributed, covered and dispensed to the patient. Speakers will share experiences from the front lines of specialty pharmacy and managed care by relaying key insights from their respective areas of practice — from clinical pharmacists and nursing staff, to patient hub liaisons and managers of patient care programs.

“With the advent of the Affordable Care Act, and growing scrutiny on cost containment, payers are demanding greater accountability and collaboration to demonstrate value,” said John Godar, RPh, senior director with Xcenda’s Commercial Client Strategies team. “This training summit is designed to give life science professionals an in-depth view of this new paradigm — and a deeper level of understanding to broaden perspectives in order to assist in strategy and tactic development moving forward.”

Featured speakers include Loreen Brown, MSW, senior vice president, Xcenda; Gene Reeder, RPh, PhD, professor, pharmacy administration, Presbyterian College School of Pharmacy; and John Godar, RPh, senior director, Xcenda. Additional speakers will include a clinical nurse, a national account manager, and other key representatives from US Bioservices. In addition, the training summit will include a panel of pharmacy benefit managers (PBMs) that will discuss trends within specialty pharmacy and managed care from the perspective of the country’s leading plans.
