PRESS RELEASE Arlington, Va. — Attendees at the 2016 National Association of Chain Drug Stores (NACDS) Total Store Expo will hear the latest election insights from the duo whom political insiders consider must-see morning TV: Joe Scarborough and Mika Brzezinski of MSNBC’s Morning Joe.

“It’s going to be fascinating to hear what they have to say from the stage about the way this presidential election is shaping up, and about all of the related political dynamics across the nation.”

They will keynote the Business Program on Sunday, August 7, which begins at 8:00 a.m. The NACDS Total Store Expo will bring the retailer and supplier partners together August 6-9 at the Boston Convention & Exhibition Center.

For the past ten years, Scarborough and Brzezinski have brought their hard-hitting and often irreverent style to the airwaves — to the satisfaction of the legislators, journalists, political consultants, staffers and recreational political observers who comprise their loyal audience. They are known for bringing this same authentically entertaining approach to the speaking stage.

“Joe Scarborough, Mike Brzezinski and Morning Joe have built a reputation as the go-to source for political analysis every Monday through Friday. NACDS Total Store Expo attendees are going to really enjoy getting an exclusive ‘weekend edition’ in Boston this year,” said NACDS President and CEO Steven C. Anderson, IOM, CAE. “It’s going to be fascinating to hear what they have to say from the stage about the way this presidential election is shaping up, and about all of the related political dynamics across the nation.”

Scarborough was elected to Congress in 1994, the first Republican to do so in his Florida Congressional District since 1872, and he was re-elected in 1996, 1998 and 2000, before retiring from Congress in May 2001. He is also the best-selling author of Rome Wasn't Burnt in a Day and The Last Best Hope: Restoring Conservatism and America's Promise. He was named host of his own MSNBC cable news show in April 2003, before helping to create Morning Joe in April 2006.

Mika Brzezinski is the best-selling author of Obsessed: America's Food Addiction — and My Own; Knowing Your Value: Women, Money and Getting What You’re Worth; and All Things at Once. Before Morning Joe, she was an anchor of the CBS Evening News Weekend Edition and a CBS News correspondent who frequently contributed to CBS Sunday Morning and 60 Minutes. At MSNBC, Brzezinski anchored the Up to the Minute news and primetime newsbreaks.

At the NACDS Total Store Expo, Scarborough and Brzezinski will provide a snapshot of the current political landscape, which will complement the insights delivered by other noted experts at recent NACDS events. The NACDS Annual Meeting in April featured former Speaker of the U.S. House of Representatives John Boehner and Dr. Larry J. Sabato, founder of the University of Virginia Center for Politics. Ron Fournier of National Journal spoke at NACDS RxIMPACT Day on Capitol Hill in March. Morton Kondracke of Roll Call addressed the NACDS Regional Chain Conference in February. Former Mississippi Governor and former Republican National Committee Chairman Haley Barbour participated in NACDS Week in New York City last December.
