How Can Alliances Between Stakeholders Improve Patient Care?

Joel Wright, chief executive officer, Alliance Rx Walgreens Prime discusses how stakeholder alliances benefit patients.

Wright: Alliances between stakeholders improves care by really bringing together different people that are in that patient’s value chain. So, if you think about it through the health plan through the PBM through the specialty pharmacy, it allows us to coordinate care—provide things in a more seamless fashion and really allow us to use the best pieces of the companies.

For us, with AllianceRx Walgreens Prime, we’re able to leverage the strength, purchasing power, and scale of the Walgreens retail, while using the clinical programs that Prime—from a PBM piece—has brought to the table. Put that together with the specialty pharmacy expertise of both companies really provides us with a tangible advantage.
