A large gathering of clinical pharmacists, this meeting runs June 8-12 at the John B. Hynes Veterans Memorial Convention Center. The meeting offers many opportunities to attend informative sessions that cover everything from patient care to medication safety, and more.
This year’s keynote speaker is Boston Medical Center’s Michael Botticelli, MEd, BA, executive director, Grayken Center for Addiction. His Monday morning address, “The Opioid Epidemic: How We Got Here, How We can End it,” will discuss the roles that pharmacists and pharmacy practices have in reducing morbidity and mortality related to opioid use disorder.
In addition to the keynote address, here are some of the sessions you'll be able to watch for in our coverage at this year’s meeting:
- The Psychology of Pain: Managing Expectations and Offering Solutions—This session discusses the effects of chronic pain on daily living, practices for treating pain, and opportunities for collaboration between pharmacists and other health care providers on medical teams.
- StewardSHIP: Taking the Helm Through the Turbulent Waters of Ambulatory Care—A look at stewardship as a leadership philosophy and applications of stewardship in ambulatory pharmacy.
- On the Front Lines of Safety: Implementing a Pharmacy-Based Opioid Clinic—Areas of opportunity for clinical pharmacy practice expansion in opioid safety and risk mitigation are evaluated.
