American Diabetes Association Alert Day Coming Up

Article

An estimated 86 million Americans have prediabetes, and 90% of them don't know they have it.

This coming Tuesday, March 28, officials with the American Diabetes Association (ADA) are urging people to take a test to assess their diabetes risk.

According to the ADA website, "an estimated 86 million Americans have prediabetes, and 90% of them don't know they have it. Prediabetes can lead to type 2 diabetes and its many serious complications. It's crucial for people to know their risk because prediabetes can be reversed with healthy food choices, weight loss, exercise, other lifestyle changes and medication."

On the last Tuesday of March each year, the ADA hosts an Alert Day where they encourage people to take the Type 2 Diabetes Risk Test.

Questions included on the test, which can be taken online or in a downloadable print form, ask the questioner an array of questions including their sex, amount of physical activity, and other questions including questions on family history of diabetes.

Take the test today and encourage your patients to do so as well!
