AHIP, GPHA Applaud Supreme Court Decision to Preserve Inter Partes Review

America's Health Insurance Plans President and CEO Marilyn Tavenner and Generic Pharmaceutical Association President and CEO Chip Davis released a joint statement praising today's decision by the Supreme Court in Cuozzo v. Lee. AHIP and GPhA's filed a joint amicus brief in the case recognizing the inter partes review as a critical consumer protection against abusive patent activity in the prescription drug market.

America's Health Insurance Plans (AHIP) President and CEO Marilyn Tavenner and Generic Pharmaceutical Association (GPhA) President and CEO Chip Davis released a joint statement praising today's decision by the Supreme Court in Cuozzo v. Lee. AHIP and GPhA's filed a joint amicus brief in the case recognizing the inter partes review (IPR) as a critical consumer protection against abusive patent activity in the prescription drug market.

"Today's decision from the Supreme Court is a significant win for consumers. By protecting and reaffirming the importance of the inter partes review, the Court recognizes the vital need for an efficient patent review process -- one that promotes a competitive, affordable prescription drug market for consumers."
