CELEBRATE PHARMACISTS
October has been designated American Pharmacists Month, with the theme "Know Your Medicine Know Your Pharmacist." The recognition is an opportunity to celebrate the pharmacy profession, recognize pharmacy staff, and reach out to patients.
After celebrating National Pharmacy Week for almost 8 decades, 2004 marked the launch of American Pharmacists Month. The expansion came in response to American Pharmacists Association (APhA) member comments that a week was not adequate time to fully promote the expanding role of the pharmacist. The goal of the event is the same: to highlight the importance of pharmacists' value to the health care system and their role as medication experts.
