PARTNERSHIP TARGETS OLDER POPULATION
An alliance between AARP and Walgreens will bring educationalresources about health, wellness, and medicines to adultsaged 50 and over.
Key aspects of the alliance include the development ofcobranded health and wellness information aimed atAmericans 50+, distribution in Walgreens stores of an AARPguide to taking medications effectively, and AARP-sponsoredcommunity programs across the country to provide personalmedication reviews by Walgreens pharmacists.
Both groups will address community needs through personalmedication reviews as part of the Ask About Your Medicationsprogram.
The reviews will be conducted at in-store and local eventscoordinated by AARP state offices and will involve Walgreenspharmacists who will handle reviews.
During the events, participants will bring all of their medicinesfor a 1-on-1 review by a Walgreens pharmacist. The pharmacistwill assess all the medicines the patient takes, ensure that thepatient understands how to take them, identify any expireddrugs, and alert patients to possible interactions.
