Adults Sleep Badly

A poll of 1506 adultsrevealed that 75% of themfrequently have sleep problems.A majority of the individualsignored the problem, andfew believed they actuallyhave a problem. Of therespondents, only 50% saidthey slept well on most nights.The survey, conducted for theNational Sleep Foundation(NSF), found the following:
- 25% of adults said sleepproblems impact theirdaily lives
- 75% reported their partnerhas a sleep problem
- 6 in 10 adult motoristssaid they have drivenwhile drowsy in the pastyear; 4% said they havehad an accident or nearaccident because theywere too tired or fellasleep while driving
- 7 in 10 people said theirphysician has neverinquired about their sleep
The NSF, along with othersleep experts, recommendedavoiding alcohol and caffeinenear bedtime. The group alsosuggested that adults payattention to how much sleepthey get and the quality of thatsleep, and get help if needed.
