USP Releases 40th Edition of USP Dictionary
The 2004 USP Dictionary of USAN and International Drug Names is now available from the United States Pharmacopeia (USP). Features of the 2004 edition include 1200 updated chemical structures, 978 modified entries, 112 new generic drug names (with 54 new United States Adopted Names [USAN]), and 734 recomputed molecular weights based on the latest atomic weights.
Also, the USP Dictionary contains >4000 trademark/brand names, 9608 international nonproprietary (generic) drug names established by the World Health Organization, 4000 total USAN listings, and ~7500 chemical names and graphic formulas.
