Tips for "When Johnny Comes Marching Home"
Oftentimes, men and women experience a range of emotions upon returning home from overseas duty. In order to help them cope, the National Mental Health Association (NMHA) has developed a series of tip sheets called ?Returning Home.? The tip sheets include the following:
? How to Get Back to ?Normal.? This tip sheet is designed to help military personnel make the transition back to everyday life.
? Being a Couple Again. The NMHA provides tips on reconnecting with a spouse or significant other.
? Reconnecting with Your Children. This sheet provides advice that parents should keep in mind when bonding with their children again.
? When the Letdown Does Not Let Up. This tip sheet helps military personnel identify signs that they may have a serious problem with the transition back to their home life and that they may need professional assistance. For copies of any of the tip sheets, visit www.nmha.org, or call NMHA?s Resource Center at 800-969-NMHA (800-969-6642).
