Most Asthmatics Are Not Using Anti-inflammatory Drugs
Three fourths of asthmatics surveyed recently were not taking anti-inflammatory medications. The study involved 2509 adults who had asthma or who were the primary guardian of a child with asthma, as reported in the Journal of Allergy and Clinical Immunology.
Of this group, 20% reported current use of an anti-inflammatory asthma medication. Of those with persistent asthma symptoms in the previous month, only 26% reported current use of anti-inflammatory asthma drugs.
Respondents with lower income, less education, and present unemployment were less likely to use anti-inflammatory medications, as were smokers.
