Healthful Power of Spiriturality
People who are spiritual are better able to deal with the discomforts and limitations of chronic disease, according to findings presented at the American Geriatrics Society?s Annual Meeting. Researchers examined 77 patients aged 30 or older who had been diagnosed with rheumatoid arthritis for a minimum of 2 years. Those who were spiritual?referring to ?the capacity of an individual to stand outside of his/her immediate sense of time and place and to view life from a larger, more detached perspective??tended to be happier and to feel better about their general health. Spirituality did not reduce pain or improve mobility, however.
