David Pope, PharmD, CDE: Across the country, clinical services are growing. And we not only see that from a state perspective as laws are being passed and allowing pharmacists for those clinical services, but also from a payer perspective. Even despite a lack of law at times, pharmacists across the country are getting into clinical services in terms of doing so. But there remains a question, and that is how do I get there? I've raised my hand and I've said 'I'm willing,' but who's going to make me able? There are questions that I think of such as credentialing and contracting. How do I get into a payer contract to begin with? And then secondarily, what clinical services can I provide in my pharmacy? There's other questions such as how do I identify these patients? What do I have to document in order to comply with state regulation, with payer regulation? How do I communicate this to the rest of the health care team? All of those questions remain, and that is where Strand-Rx fills in the gap. Essentially starting from the outset, allowing pharmacists to understand what clinical services they can provide in their state, as well as how to get credentialed and contracted.
