Baton Rouge, Louisiana (August 11, 2014) — Avita Pharmacy announced today the acquisition of MedExpress Pharmacy located in Salisbury, NC. MedExpress and Avita both offer specialty pharmacy services to patients with complex health conditions.

Founded in 1995, MedExpress has served patients in North Carolina, South Carolina, and Virginia with HIV, diabetes, infertility, and primary medical needs with exceptional customer service.

“Avita’s acquisition of MedExpress allows us to expand our presence in the Carolinas and Virginia while bringing enhanced market opportunities and expertise to MedExpress. We are very excited about our new East Coast acquisition and the opportunity to provide Avita’s High-Touch model to all patients, providers, and prescribers,” states Avita’s CEO & President, Jerry Purcell.

Avita’s experience and specialty pharmacy expertise will broaden MedExpress’s current offerings allowing it to provide more “high-touch”solutions to its patients and prescribers. Avita will bring to MedExpress a large portfolio of limited distribution drugs, access to exclusive specialty-pharmacy payer contracts, and several accreditations scheduled for completion by the end of 2014.
