As New Technology Emerges, What Opportunities Will Be Presented to Specialty Pharmacies?

Rinku Patel, PharmD, RPh, CEO and founder of KloudScript, discusses potential opportunities for specialty pharmacies as technology continues to evolve.

Patel: I think it’s the opportunity to be a closer care coordinator and provider between these various stakeholders. The prescribers have a need to work very, very closely with specialty pharmacies—technology can help enable that.

For example, the payer community also has a need to improve efficiencies and how they determine the right patient and the right therapy and how they impose some of the medication therapy management techniques they have to ustilize to manage their spend trends and things like that.

I believe technology will offer opportunities for stakeholders in the industry to collaborate more closely and the improved visibility and transparency into that patient’s care and the motives and needs of different stakeholders will become more aligned through use technology as we continue to have more tools are made available in the marketplace.
