Can You Read These Rxs?
Registered Pharmacist Phil Crank, Jr, pharmacy manager of Wal-Mart Pharmacy Department #2424 in Ticonderoga, New York, could only make out the dosage for this prescription. He placed a call to the prescribing physician's office for verification. Can you unscramble this poorly written prescription?
Pharmacy intern David Tietz, of Giant Eagle Pharmacy #6507 in Westerville, Ohio, was stumped by this prescription. After making several attempts to decipher it, Tietz asked his supervisor for assistance. The supervisor also was unable to determine the medication being ordered. Tietz called the prescribing physician's office for clarification. Do you know what the physician prescribed?
ANSWERS
Rx 1: Pulmicort Respules 0.25 mg, 1 vial 2 times a day, 1-month supply.
Rx 2: Nystatin 10 mL, swish and swallow, 10 cc 3 times a day for 10 days.
