Thomson Micromedex and GeisingerHealth System are partnering to createcomprehensive evidence-based ordersets (medication instructions and treatmentoptions) that health care organizationscan use to regulate and improvepatient care, quality, outcomes, and efficiencies.Through this alliance, Micromedexwill acquire a considerable collection ofproven inpatient order sets fromGeisinger. The 2 companies will then workon products that integrate these establishedproven medical protocols with evidence-based clinical knowledge solutions.
The new product, Micromedex OrderSets, will address health care organizations'needs for detailed instructions andtreatment options that mirror currentstandards, medical evidence, and qualityand regulatory initiatives for the mostfrequent hospital and emergency departmentdiagnoses, procedures, and complaints.Currently, the hospitals throughoutCanada and the United States usingMicromedex knowledge products canapply Micromedex Order Sets work-flowcapabilities to maintain a clinically consistentknowledge base. The sets willinclude a customization tool that links toa variety of Micromedex evidence-basedclinical decision support modules to helphealth care organizations adapt and tailorthe product to their own hospital policiesand procedures.
