New Discount Card Now Available
A new discount program may helpmillions of uninsured Americans savemoney on prescriptions if they meetthe eligibility requirements. Launchedby drug companies in January 2005,the Together Rx Access Card programallows individuals who meet incomeand age requirements to save 25% to40% on more than 275 brand namedrugs and a variety of generic drugs.
To qualify for the card, applicantsmust be legal US residents under theage of 65, not eligible for Medicare,and have no other private or publicdrug coverage. Applicants must alsohave incomes no higher than $30,000for a single individual or $60,000 for afamily of 4. Those who qualify for theprogram can enroll by visitingwww.togetherrxaccess.com, or by calling800-444-4106. The card will beeffective in February 2005.
The companies participating in theprogram include Abbott; AstraZeneca;Bristol-Myers Squibb; GlaxoSmithKline; part of the Johnson & Johnsonfamily of companies (Janssen Pharmaceuticaand Ortho-McNeil PharmaceuticalInc); Novartis; Pfizer; Sanofi-AventisGroup; Takeda PharmaceuticalsNorth America Inc; and Tap PharmaceuticalProducts Inc.
